Glad I found this. Your cartoons are fresh and make the point in a funny way. I despise ACLU. I’ll visit often. DustyCoyote
Well doesn’t the bill of rights have a whole ya can’t favor one religion over another thing?
You’re kinda right. But the vision of our deist founders was: to not show favor to one denomination or sect of Christianity over others. So, like in Europe, the Catholics or some religious monarchy wouldn’t take over. But they all believed we should set up our govt to honor Jehovah, the Hebrew, Christian, real, living, loving God: thus giving every other religion the freedom to practice their thing, but not take over! But now the world has come to this land of the free–& that’s wonderful. But many want to take over, not realizing that their systems have done more to enslave & deceive, than ours has to free & elevate, mankind. Why in the hell do they all flock to our shores?!
So today the constitution is used to reduce this tired old hateful God to one of many gods or no gods, & create a vacuum of spiritual authority or no authority. And so, don’t you worry: evil old democratic, free, Judeo-Christian America will be gone soon. And you’ll be writing your pithy righteous comments in Chinese or Arabic (if you’re allowed to live). Thot: Those burkas must be a real drag for a Muslim transvestites.
Oh please! I hardly think Jefferson meant “‘make no law respecting an establishment of religion (unless that religion is based on Judaism).” Jefferson himself hated religion and Christianity more than all. “Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, imprisoned; yet we have not advanced an inch towards uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth.” He even clearly stated that, “As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion” when talking to muslims for crying out loud! Adams especially hated religion as a whole clearly rallying, “This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it.” I don’t really get where the “they all believed we should set up our govt to honor Jehovah, the Hebrew, Christian, real, living, loving God” comes from snd how in the hell does not supporting your particular brand of sinner burning, all loving creator “enslave & deceive”? Do you have any inkling of proof? No let’s back up. Do you even understand that concept?
Even if this was true, even if your pseudo-theocracy was the true goal of the founding fathers it is not a place where I nor any rational human being would ever want to live. Just look at the few remaining theocracies and places that have huge populations of religious people. They are some of the most violent and backwards places that exist. Now look at largely atheist countries like Sweden and Norway. Incredibly prosperous and educated.
I don’t even wan’t to talk about the rest of your blatant hypocrisy. My only solace to the realization that people with such backwards beliefs as yours exists is the knowledge that you are one of the last of the dying breed of close minded bigots.
